EA bought the rights to Star Wars so we will see bf3. They will probably choose dice which is good because they kick ass and crytek because EA works with both of them and cryteks egine is beutiful

Free Radical created Time Splitters though! and was formed by ex-Rare developers who worked on Goldeneye! They would have done a great job on SWBF3, sure Haze kinda sucks but we can't let one mistake bring down some of the best people in the business.

Just watched it. A lot of that looks like the video that was recorded from a television screen and leaked a couple years ago. Definitely some new stuff in there though.

Not sure what mandates FR had, but it looks to me like they created multiple "mini-games" within the larger BF3 title, with definite X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter, Shadows of the Empire, Rebel Assault, the BF series (obviously) and even some Jedi Knight influences.

At the very least, it's like they combined the best elements of every Star Wars game from the last 15+ years and crafted, what looks to be, an amazingly stellar game.

Also, that dark jedi/Sith kind of looks like Darth Malak from Knights of the Old Republic, which wouldn't make sense.

Now if someone with access to the source code/files would just post it somewhere so we could all enjoy it. :(

That is from a more complete build. This build that Ive shown is from 8 months or so prior to that video, which I've said quite a few times. Early campaign missions exist in this game, but some freeze or are lacking the complete content, so they only have partial cutscenes for example. You can see parts of the campaign on this very site.

Actually, I think you're right. Check this alpha build of BFIII. Much higher quality, and there's a cutscene of a Sith Lord saying, "Stick to the plan, Kenobi."

Someone contact Bioware and show them what space combat is supposed to look like! :P

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't BF3 supposed to have a "story mode"? Seems I read somewhere that it was going to be an "alternate reality" storyline with a corrupted Obi Wan Kenobi. I remember seeing the artwork and what appeared to be some of the cutscenes. Or was that for another game that Free Radical was working on? Either way, it looked incredible. Wish they had shown some of that.

The studio behind the game was Free Radical, their last game before this was Haze on the PS3. While this game was still in development the studio filed for bankruptcy but later Crytek (the people behind Crysis) bought them out and the studio was renamed to Crytek UK. After that their was no information to what has happened to BFIII but it was likely that the project has been dropped

Strange right? And I thought that BF was pretty much the most sucessfull Star Wars game ever... From what I can recall I think that around the time that the alpha version of this was made, Lucas Arts hired new executives. I'm sure you can figure out the rest... :/

Why on Earth will they not just finish this game. I know it's not an easy answer, but my goodness, of all the crap games that have come out since this was being developed. Of all the games to stop developing.. why one that people actually wanted to play. Crazy
